The 7-3-2-1 method
The 7 3 2 1 method involves reviewing material 7 hours, 3 days, 2 weeks, and 1 month after learning. It is based on spaced repetition to counter the Ebbinghaus forgetting curve.
Day 1: establish the base. After 7 hours: move from short term to working memory. After 3 days: refresh. After 2 weeks and 1 month: lock into long term memory.
Use active recall or flashcards each time, not just rereading. Retention can reach 90 percent versus 20 percent with a single review. Ideal for languages, facts, or names.
Example: vocabulary with Anki reminders. Adjust intervals according to progress and track daily. Within 30 days, memory improves dramatically. Simplicity plus consistency equals power.
