Memory improvement techniques at each level
Sensory memory, about 0.5 seconds, can be trained with attention drills and mindfulness. Short term memory, around 20 seconds, benefits from chunking into groups of about 7 and rehearsal.
Working memory, about 30 seconds, can be improved with dual n back and mental rotation tasks. Long term memory relies on spaced repetition and the method of loci.
Episodic memory, events, works well with visualization and storytelling. Semantic memory, facts, uses mnemonics, associations, and teaching. Procedural memory, skills, improves through deliberate practice.
All levels rely on repetition, emotion, and multisensory input. Sensory feeds short term, and working supports long term. Methods like the memory palace can be applied broadly. Adapt techniques to the type of memory, and combine them to build a strong system.
